There are rumors that the Detroit Lions have been contacted on the possibility of dealing for a three-time All-Pro who is now seeking a trade.

The Detroit Lions have been busy at cornerback this offseason.

They added three free agents at the position, including $16 million per year agreement for D.J. Reed.

The cornerback room is so congested as a result of those transactions that Amik Robertson is now being considered as a possible trade possibility.

One club apparently reached out to the Lions to inquire about trade for their top cornerback, who is seeking to be dealt, despite the congested cornerback room.

The Miami Dolphins approached a number of clubs over a possible trade for Jalen Ramsey, including the Lions, according to Armando Salguero of Outkick.

Salguero also mentioned the Falcons, Rams, Commanders, and Eagles as teams that spoke with the Dolphins, indicating they were by no means the only club to hear from them.

The Lions truly can’t afford to trade for Ramsey if they can’t afford to sign Za’Darius Smith.

His deal is worth $24.1 million year from 2026 to 2028. Additionally, according to Spotrac, it bears a cap hit of at least $25 million in each of those seasons.

Furthermore, Ramsey isn’t truly needed by the Lions.

This offseason, they signed Reed to a three-year contract to be their top cornerback. Last year, they also selected Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and Terrion Arnold.

Arnold should improve in his second season after being required to play a lot of man coverage as a rookie. The team won’t need to make a drastic move like this at the position because he will be a decent enough CB2.

The Lions might have been interested in dealing for Ramsey before to free agency, but they are currently in a strong position and have many better options for using that money.
