Breaking news: Jared Goff slapped with warning from Georgia star.
Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, Jared Goff should keep an eye on this Georgia defense.
Jared Goff is ecstatic to be the starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Over the past several seasons, Goff has played a key role in the Lions’ turnaround. He really performed so well that last summer, Detroit granted him a hefty deal. It appears that his skills are now beginning to be recognized by the rest of the NFL.
Georgia safety Malaki Starks was asked by Kay Adams who NFL QB he is most excited to intercept. Starks’ response was a little unexpected.
“Jared Goff,” Starks uttered after a few moment of reflection. “I was just chatting to several of my former teammates who are currently playing in the league. Being able to add that to my résumé is a huge plus since he is an extremely talented quarterback. I believe it would be wonderful if some of the guys talked about him like that.
Adams obviously thought Starks would respond differently. Actually, the majority of NFL rookies would probably choose Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes.
The rumor that Starks has been hearing about Goff from former NFL colleagues is intriguing. None of the players on Detroit’s squad are particularly noteworthy as the clear origin of this Goff fervor. Players from other NFL teams must thus be telling Starks about Goff’s excellence.
In 2024, Goff led the Lions to their greatest record in team history and had a career season. During the regular season, he passed for 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He had career highs in throwing touchdowns (37), passer rating (111.8), and completion percentage (72.4%).
Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Lions are ready to recruit defensive talents.
On the offensive end of the ball, it looks like Jared Goff and the Lions have everything worked out.
Detroit is so well-positioned to add a number of defensive talents in the 2025 NFL Draft.
During the 2024 season, Detroit’s main problem was the defense. With so many defensive injuries, the Lions could deploy a whole defense with just guys on injured reserve.
Detroit now wants to improve its starting lineup and avoid this from occurring in 2025.
In order to complement Aidan Hutchinson, the majority of NFL draft gurus predict that the Lions will select an edge rusher in the first round. Fortunately, there is a strong class of edge rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft, so the Lions may always select a quality player in the second round.
The Lions will probably choose an offensive lineman who can play guard or a defensive tackle if they don’t get a pick in the first round.
