Breaking news: Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud gets a special approval from the NFL.
Another elite quarterback gives C.J. Stroud a lot of credit.
C.J. Stroud has some great supporters. Super Bowl winner Matthew Stafford recently praised the Houston Texans signal-caller, saying he finds motivation in Stroud.
The list should now include one of the greatest passers of all time.
Drew Brees stated in an interview with FanSided that he adores Stroud. He even said that the third-year pro makes him think of himself.
“I am a huge supporter of C.J. as a quarterback. I adore his style, composure, and mindset. Brees remarked, “I adore what they are constructing in Houston.”
In 2023, Stroud made a splash by passing for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. Despite participating in two more games, Stroud’s stats in year two were less outstanding. He threw for less yards (3,727) and touchdowns (20). Additionally, he increased his overall number of interceptions from five to twelve.
In 2024, injuries at the receiver position were a problem, with Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell all missing time. Jason Kelce and his brother, Travis Kelce, mentioned that the offensive line was a major problem when they discussed Stroud with Matthew Stafford. Houston has spent this offseason trying to address that issue, with general manager Nick Caserio overhauling the unit. The team hopes to make sure Stroud is comfortable under center, because if he is, they believe he can return to the form we saw when he won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award.
If the Texans hope to see Stroud reach his full potential, they must keep adding offensive firepower despite Kirk and a redesigned line.
