Under the direction of first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the Dallas Cowboys will enter a new phase of their organization in the next season. With a 7-10 record at the end of the season, Dallas decided to fire Mike McCarthy and elevate Schottenheimer from inside the staff. Free agency signings should be a top focus for the Cowboys as they attempt to restructure their roster in the 2025 offseason in order to position themselves for a successful season and a possible postseason run.

The Cowboys were expected to acquire one-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyler Lockett, according to a recent free agency prediction article by Daniel Valente and Brenden Deeg at The Score.

Before being cut by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2025 offseason, Lockett spent ten seasons with the team. Lockett had 600 yards and two scores on 49 catches during the previous season. Lockett would play with some of Dallas’ best players, including wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott, if the Cowboys signed him.

The Cowboys have had trouble in the postseason under Prescott, but they appear to have the personnel to contend for an NFC title and maybe a Super Bowl every season. The Cowboys may go closer to winning the championship with the arrival of a veteran like Lockett.
