Tom Pelissero reports that former Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough has been denied an interview to join Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff with the New York Jets.
Blough, a former backup quarterback for the Lions, was anticipated to look into a possible position under Glenn, who is currently the head coach of the Jets. But Blough was retained by the Washington Commanders, where he has been the assistant quarterbacks coach. Pelissero pointed out that Blough was not able to take advantage of the chance with the Jets since the Commanders decided to keep him on their staff.
Blough has always been considered a promising coaching prospect due to his strong football IQ. He has established himself as a candidate for a more important coaching post in the future because to his stint with the Lions and his experiences in Washington.
Charles London is anticipated to be hired by the Jets as their new quarterbacks coach. London, 50, offers seasoned coaching expertise to the Jets’ coaching team under Glenn, having previously won the same title with the Seattle Seahawks. Blough won’t be playing for Glenn’s club this time, but his coaching career still appears bright, and the former quarterback for the Detroit Lions is still a name to keep an eye on potential coaching openings in the future.
