OBITUARY: American award-winning country singer and actor passed away at the age of 88 in Brownsville, Texas.
The award-winning country singer and actor Kris Kristofferson passed away at the age of 88, and tributes have been given to him.
“What an enormous loss,” Dolly Parton wrote. What a terrific writer. What a terrific actor. What a wonderful buddy.
The lines “I will always love you” were used to close her social media message, referencing one of her best-known songs.
She “knew he was something special” the first time she watched him perform, according to Barbra Streisand.
In the 1976 adaptation of the movie A Star Is Born, Kristofferson and Streisand shared the lead roles.
In the movie, Kristofferson received a Golden Globe for his performance, and they sang together on the Oscar-winning original song, “Evergreen.”
at 2019, Streisand also invited him to join her on stage at London’s Hyde Park.
“The audience erupted in cheers for him, and he was as charming as ever. “Watching him get the love and recognition he so richly deserved was a delight,” she posted on Instagram.
Kristofferson was well-known for penning songs, including Help Me Make It Through the Night and Me and Bobby McGee, for which he received notable recognition.
Kyle Young, the CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame, stated in a statement, “He produced a body of work that gave voice not only to his soul but to ours.”
“A magnificent human being”
Kristofferson died “peacefully” at home in Hawaii on Saturday, surrounded by family, according to his agent.
Kristofferson was referred to as “a peacenik, a revolutionary, an actor, a superstar, a sex symbol, and a family man” in the statement.
His family wrote in a note that they were all “so blessed” to have known him.
The letter said, “Thank you for loving him over the years, and know that he is smiling down at us all when you see a rainbow.”
Singer LeAnn Rimes paid homage to the couple by sharing a picture of them along with the caption, “An epic human with the biggest heart.” I shall miss you terribly. Rest in peace, dear friend.
“Loved this man, his talent, his mind, and his beautiful heart,” Melissa Etheridge continued.
“What a gentleman, what a kind soul, and what a lover of words,” Reba McEntire wrote. I’m very happy I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with him. One of my favorite individuals. Peace be with you, Kris.
Kristofferson, who was born on June 22, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas, rose to prominence in the country music industry.
The family statement stated that he stated, “When I got started, I was one of the people hoping to bring respect to country music.”
“That’s what some of my songs that had to be hits did. I suppose that’s why I could be elected to the Hall of Fame. I am aware that my golden throat isn’t the cause.
Kristofferson attended Pomona College in California to study writing before attending Oxford as a Rhodes scholar. After graduating from Oxford with a master’s degree in 1960, he went back to the US and enlisted in the army.
