Announcement: The current king of progressive rock Steven Wilson announces 2025 North American Tour.
In September, “The Overview Tour”‘s North American leg begins.
The North American leg of Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson’s solo venture, “The Overview Tour,” has been announced. The 18-show tour will begin in San Francisco on September 9 and run through October 11 in Dallas, stopping in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Brooklyn along the way.
General ticket sales begin Friday (January 31st) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster, while a Live Nation ticket pre-sale for a few dates starts Wednesday (January 29th) at 10 a.m. local time with the code OCTAVE.
Earlier in the year, Wilson will tour Europe in support of his upcoming new album, The Overview, which is scheduled for release on March 14.
“A 42-minute journey based on the reported ‘overview effect,’ whereby astronauts seeing the Earth from space undergo a transformative cognitive shift, most often experiencing an overwhelming appreciation and perception of beauty, and an increased sense of connection to other people and the Earth as a whole,” the progressive icon said of his most recent work.
Nevertheless, he said in a news statement, “not all experiences are positive; some see the Earth truly for what it is, insignificant and lost in the vastness of space, and the human race as a troubled species.” The album depicts both positive and negative aspects of life on Earth in order to reflect that.
Although Wilson initially intended The Overview to be a solo album, he would later work with a variety of musicians on the recordings, such as Craig Blundell on drums, Adam Holzman on keyboards, and Randy McStine on guitars. Andy Partridge of XTC also contributed lyrics to the 23-minute movement “Objects Outlive Us.”
