The Detroit Lions’ season could be coming to an end. However, that does not imply that its players are exempt from their on-field transgressions.

According to reports, Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was fined $25,325 by the NFL for becoming unsportsmanlike during Detroit’s 45-31 NFC Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders.

At Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, Williams celebrated a score late in the first half with what were considered “obscene gestures.” After scoring a 61-yard rushing touchdown, the Lions star was bouncing on the turf in the end zone.

Williams’ celebrations of touchdowns have gotten him into problems with the NFL before. During the Lions’ resounding victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, the third-year pro executed a similar maneuver.

In 2022, Williams was selected 12th overall by the Lions. If you make as much first-round selection money as he does, it makes far more financial sense to give up more than $20,000 to celebrate his favored TD.

The former Alabama star agreed to a rookie contract for around $17.5 million for four years. Given his stellar season, it is quite probable that Detroit will also select Williams’ fifth-year option.

In 15 games, the 23-year-old caught 58 catches for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns.
