At Bank of America Stadium, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Carolina Panthers 30–14, overcoming their typical self-inflicted injuries. … They did it in a manner that led to the coaching staff describing this roster with a single term. Before catastrophe struck, the Cowboys controlled the game for the whole of the first half and were driving in Carolina fear as the second quarter came to a close. The Panthers recovered a Cooper Rush fumble that gave the home team life. The score might have been at least 13-0, but it was 10-7 when Bryce Young and Jalen Coker scored an 83-yard touchdown on the very next play, and Carolina was in business.

However, Dallas blasted it in for a score after forcing a turnover after only two plays in the second half. Coach Mike McCarthy’s offense scored a touchdown once again to throw the game open after the defense forced a punt on Carolina’s subsequent drive. McCarthy remarked, “We’ve always been a resilient bunch,”

That is undoubtedly a quality. However, this also holds true for the coach. And as McCarthy looks to extend his contract until 2025, it could be the best term to have on his resume. With the victory, the Cowboys are now 6-8 and 3-1 in their past four games. That terrible defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals suddenly seems much worse, but it could also be argued that it was an outlier.

The Cowboys aren’t giving up, and they’re really enjoying these games as they attempt to salvage their season, even if playoffs are still probably out of the question. Dallas continues to win despite the numerous setbacks they have faced this season, and with just three games remaining, you can bet your house that it won’t go peacefully. Why not? The Cowboys may contend that there is just one term that describes the team and maybe the head coach: “Resilient.”
