CBS Sports: On Thursday, the Detroit Lions set a new NFL record.
In a fierce rivalry game against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, the Detroit Lions maintained their pace, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. The Lions eventually defeated their fiercest opponents 34–31 at Ford Field after a back-and-forth contest. In addition to making a significant message against their NFC North rivals, Thursday’s victory was historic for Detroit. The Lions declared on X shortly after the final whistle that they had just won their 11th consecutive game, making franchise history.
“The @Lions have won 11 straight games for the first time in the history of the team. The Football Communications Department of the team shared the hashtag #OnePride.
The Lions have to work as a team to achieve this historic triumph. Leading the way was quarterback Jared Goff, who completed 32 of 41 throws for 283 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
David Montgomery, a running back, contributed with 14 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. However, wide receiver Tim Patrick, who had six receptions for 43 yards and two scores, was perhaps the game’s biggest surprise.
With Thursday’s victory, the Lions have also guaranteed a postseason berth, but they have made it clear that they will not be sitting back and enjoying their success.
They will play the Buffalo Bills, who are currently on a seven-game winning run, at home in Week 15. On December 15, however, Detroit will try to make it 12 straight in an effort to offer its devoted supporters even more cause for celebration.
