CBS Sports: Lions Star Man named the November NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
The NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for November is Jake Bates of the Detroit Lions, the league announced Thursday.
In November, Bates went 8-9 on field goals, including 4-4 from 50 yards or more. With bonus points included, his total score was 41.
His 52-yard game-winning field goal to cap the comeback was one of the highlights of Detroit’s victory over the Houston Texans. This season, it was his second game-winning kick.
Since Matt Prater in September 2017, he is the first Lions kicker to get the honor. Jason Hanson won the prize five times, while Prater won it twice.
According to the team, Bates is the third Lions player to win NFC Player of the Month this season. Jared Goff won the title of Offensive Player of the Month in October, while Aidan Hutchinson was awarded the NFC Defensive Player of the Month in September.
