CBS Sports: A sensational star set a new NFL record in 2024, despite the Raiders having little to brag about.
Although the Raiders haven’t had much to brag about in 2024, Brock Bowers is at least a real weapon at tight end.
In Sunday’s 34-19 loss to Miami, Bowers, the No. 13 overall choice out of Georgia, caught a season-high 13 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Thus far in his first season, he has caught 70 passes for 706 yards and three touchdowns.
In his first ten games, Bowers has now amassed the most receiving yards of any tight end in NFL history. After Odell Beckham Jr., he is the only player to ever record at least 70 catches in his first 10 games. He is just the second rookie wide receiver to ever record at least 10 receptions in multiple games. In eight games, he has at least five catches, making him the fourth rookie tight end to do so.
“We’re making every effort to showcase our top player. After Sunday’s game, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce remarked, “He’s playing like that.” He’s physical and tough. He wants to continue playing the run game and not leave it. As a newbie, he is fulfilling all of our requests. He is the kind of playmaker we need more and more.
Bowers, for his part, said that the more he plays, the more at ease he becomes.
Following Sunday’s game, Bowers remarked, “Every game feels like it’s slowing down.” “I keep getting used to the play’s pace.”
Much of the Raiders’ future is uncertain at 2-8 in 2024. However, Bowers will undoubtedly play a significant role in the team’s future, regardless of who leads its offense.
