Dak Prescott's Price Point Beyond $55MM Per Year; Cowboys Closer With CeeDee Lamb?

In an ugly home loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys managed just nine points. The Cowboys have a 3-3 record going into their bye week. Following their bye, the Cowboys will play the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and Washington Commanders in five straight tough games.

To be in the running for the playoffs before December, the Cowboys may try to get quarterback Dak Prescott through a trade. According to Bleacher Report’s Scott Polacek, wide receiver Mike Williams of the New York Jets would prefer to sign with the Cowboys.

According to Bleacher Report: “After losing badly to the Detroit Lions 47-9 on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys might likewise need a change of scenery. Aside from CeeDee Lamb, they don’t exactly have a ton of established wideout alternatives. Williams might be a perfect deep threat, capitalizing on the single coverage he would almost always receive while he was on the field because opposing teams would be so preoccupied on slowing Lamb and covering tight end Jake Ferguson.”

The Jets are shopping Williams this week following their sale of Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Williams, selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with the seventh overall choice in the 2017 draft, has struggled to get going this year in New York. In his five games with the Jets, the 30-year-old wide receiver had 10 grabs for 145 yards.

A deal for Williams would require Jerry Jones to have a change of heart. The Cowboys’ owner does not plan to purchase before the trade deadline, according to a report published on Tuesday by Dianna Russini of The Athletic. “As for the upcoming November 5th NFL trade deadline, Cowboys Jerry Jones says they will not be active,” Russini wrote on X. “He adds that neither the coordinators nor the head coach will be changing. He draws attention to numerous aspects that require improvement in practice.”

In the event that the Cowboys choose to acquire Williams, they would be adding a seasoned pass catcher who has eight years of NFL experience with 319 receptions for 4,951 yards and 31 touchdowns.
