CBS Sports: Jets sets to get rid of Rookie in Raiders favorite sensational blockbuster trade.

In order to make room for Davante Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets may need to let go of a young talent.

Malachi Corley, a rookie wide receiver, is one of those players that could be traded, according to SNY’s Connor Hughes.

Hughes stated, “The Jets can put together a compelling package for Adams that includes players in addition to draft compensation.” “Malachi Corley might be included if the Jets are worried about feeding too many mouths with one ball to go around and the Raiders look for a receiver to replace Adams.”

Jets Could Just Wash Their Hands of Corley Situation
The Jets’ decision to give up on Corley would be a drastic departure from a few months ago.

The 22-year-old Corley was selected 65th overall in the third round. The Jets traded up to acquire the former Western Kentucky player because they were so interested in him. The team would have been willing to draft him in the middle of the second round, but they ultimately chose him with the first pick in the third round.

Corley hasn’t really done anything over the offseason or the first month of the 2024 season, even though the Jets are really bullish on him.

Despite playing in three of the four games, he only had one reception for four receiving yards. Just two offensive snaps, or 1% of the total this season, have been played by Corley.

When asked what Corley needs to do to get on the field, Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett didn’t exactly give him the go-ahead.

“I believe he will get his come. It might happen sooner rather than later, according to Hackett.

Corley has a $6 million contract that is set to run for four years. With a $1.5 million salary, he is the 89th highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL in 2024, according to Over The Cap.

It may be worthwhile if adding Corley to the transaction significantly altered the amount of draft compensation the Jets would have to pay the Raiders. But Corley is on a team-friendly contract for the foreseeable future, and the team thought highly of him a few months ago.

Killing a Dumb Narrative on Social Media
With only one ball available, Hughes clarified that the Jets “have concerns” about having too many mouths to feed on offense. Garrett Wilson, though, is a player who is here to stay.

When it came to trade talks with the Raiders or anybody else, Hughes referred to him as “untouchable.”

On social media, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk stated, “The Jets have Mike Williams, Allen Lazard, and Garrett Wilson at wide receiver.” Should Davante Adams is acquired, may Wilson be the odd man out?
