Javon Hargrave to miss remainder of 49ers season with a torn triceps

Coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Monday that defensive tackle Javon Hargrave of the San Francisco 49ers needs surgery, which is probably going to finish the season. Hargrave was hurt on Sunday during the San Francisco 49ers’ 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s a significant loss, Shanahan remarked. “I felt Sunday’s game was his finest yet. He had a significant impact on the quarterback in the game, in my opinion. Among our best players is him. He was going to have a great year and was undoubtedly headed in the right path.

Hargrave might be able to return, according to Shanahan, but not until the very end of the postseason.

Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the Niners, is experiencing back pain in the meantime. The 24-year-old is described by Shanahan as “day-to-day,” despite an MRI revealing nothing significant. Purdy completed 69 of 95 passes, or 72.6 percent of the total, for 842 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in San Francisco’s first three games.

This season, Christian McCaffrey has not played a snap for the 49ers. Shanahan said on Monday that the star running back traveled to Germany over the weekend to consult with a doctor over his persistent Achilles tendonitis.

Since September 14, McCaffrey has been placed on injured reserve. In McCaffrey’s absence, Jordan Mason assumed the role of RB1, and in three games, he has amassed an NFL-high 67 carries for 324 yards and two touchdowns. On Sunday, the New England Patriots and the Niners (1-2) will play in Santa Clara, California.
