ESPN: Rams key player ruled out for the season due to “Serious” knee injury.
The Los Angeles Rams’ season hasn’t gotten off to the best start.
The Rams faced the Detroit Lions in a Wild Card rematch to begin the 2024 NFL season. The game required an overtime period since it was so intensely competitive. Ultimately, the Lions’ rushing attack—led by running back David Montgomery (91 rushing yards), who punched in the game-winning score to give the Lions a 26-20 victory—was too much for the Rams’ defense to contain.
Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua hurt his knee in the first half of the game, as if the defeat didn’t hurt enough. Since the summer, when the knee issue first occurred, Nacua has been keeping an eye on the knee. A PCL sprain was eventually determined to have occurred. Nacua was put on the injury reserved list after the game and is anticipated to miss at least four games.
In Week 2, the Rams were also unable to get a break. The Arizona Cardinals, who play in their division, defeated the Rams 41–10 by taking advantage of their incapacity to stop the run (231 running yards). Quarterback Kyler Murray tore through the Rams’ secondary for 266 throwing yards and three touchdowns.
The Rams’ head coach, Sean McVay, then spoke to the supporters on Monday regarding more injuries that occurred in Week 2.
After a 26-yard reception in the second quarter of the game, Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp hurt his ankle. Kupp stood up hobbling and did not come back. Kupp has now sustained back-to-back injuries. Due to a sprained ankle, Kupp was limited to just nine games in 2022. Kupp missed a month of action in 2023 because of a hamstring issue.
In Sunday’s game, Kupp wasn’t the only injured player. Safety John Johnson III also has a shoulder injury, while guard Jonah Jackson suffered a fractured scapula.
Jackson and Kupp have been placed on injured reserve and are expected to “miss a good amount of time,” while Johnson III is labeled as questionable for the game the following week but will probably miss a few games.
Tight end Davis Allen has been declared out, and place kicker Joshua Karty, who strained his groin during the game, is anticipated to recover completely for Week 3.
Even if the Rams are without a win, they could have a good chance to defeat another division foe in Week 3. The San Francisco 49ers are hobbling into this week’s game due to the return of injured running back Christian McCaffrey (calf) and the inactive status of wide out Deebo Samuel (calf). Like the Rams,
