CBS Sports: Giants close in to sign a new quarterback with “Incredible Pocket Presence.”
The Minnesota Vikings dealt the New York Giants a crushing home setback to begin their 2024 campaign. Daniel Jones, the quarterback for New York, was anything but competitive in a game that many predicted they would win if they were going to be competitive.
It’s unclear how long Jones will stay with the team, especially if New York has another season below.500. But a lot of people in New York’s front office might already be looking for his replacement.
Giants anticipate signing a new quarterback with “Incredible Pocket Presence.”
Miller Moss of USC was recognized by CBS Sports as the potential “guy” in New York going forward.
Moss signs with a different team that most certainly needs an upgrade at quarterback (see: going toward clarity). He has the tools in his pocket to succeed in the NFL.
Moss is a 2025 NFL Draft prospect who is rising quickly:
Moss is a redshirt junior who still has one year left to play for the Trojans. He hasn’t made any public statements about his intentions to play in the NFL or return for another season following this one. QBs who choose to go early or come back to school have been seen by the Trojans to do both.
Matt Barkley and Matt Leinart both appeared to have the option to leave USC as juniors, but they decided to stay for one more year. Both Sam Darnold and Mark Sanchez departed early to join the NFL. Sanchez started for the Trojans for a complete season, had one more year of eligibility, and was selected fifth overall.
In his redshirt freshman year, Darnold took over as the starter, and he continued to hold that role the next season. He was the third overall pick and still had two years of eligibility left.
Moss has completed 72.7% of his throws for 607 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in his first two games of the season.
