Aaron Judge’s home runless streak is reaching a new record for him.

It is now a career-high 16 games that he has not hit a home run. This occurred on Thursday night as the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 2-1 in 10 innings.

Judge was 1 for 4 with a single in the contest. Judge leads the league with 51 home runs and 126 RBIs. After hitting two home runs against Colorado on August 26, he has been hitting.207 (12 for 58) with 21 strikeouts. Judge had previously gone 15 games without a home run between August 17 and September 2, 2017.

“Even for guys like him, they still come in bunches and you’re going to have those stretches,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone remarked. “I guess it’s amazing that he has avoided those,” he continued. I felt he had solid at-bats tonight and nearly got one, but that’s just a credit to how good of a hitter and how much power he has.

Judge hit two balls during the game: a grounder at 104.7 mph that third baseman Rafael Devers stopped with a twisting play in the first inning, and a ball in the fifth that Wilyer Abreu caught close to the right-field wall.

Prior to this current stretch, Judge had hit nine home runs in ten games.

Nestor Cortes, the pitcher, stated, “He’s getting base hits.” He’s starting to get it. He is generating traffic. “The homers haven’t been there yet, but I know they’ll come,” he continued. He’s a mature boy.

Cortes also mentioned Judge’s sluggish beginning. Judge was hitting.209 until May 4 with six home runs, but umpire Ryan Blakney removed him for swearing following Detroit’s third strike call.

“You guys saw what happened in April,” Cortes remarked. After a brief period of effort, he broke down in tears. It’s probably time to kick him out once more.
