ESPN: The New York Yankees’ Most Recent Mega Trade Acquisition Has Been a Beast Recently…..
With his move to the New York Yankees, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been a beast. Before the MLB Trade Deadline, the Bronx Bombers traded Chisholm to the Miami Marlins for three minor leaguers. In 24 games since donning the pinstripes, he is batting.333 with nine home runs and ten stolen bases.
Chisholm’s victories over replacement demonstrates his improvement after the trade. In 101 games with the Marlins, he finished with a 1.7 FWAR (1.2 WAR). In his 24 games with the Yankees, he has a better WAR (1.3) and the same FWAR.
For the Yankees, Chisholm’s speed has been a tremendous asset. He has the second-most swipes on the club for the whole season and is a perfect 10/10 in stolen base attempts with the team.
The Yankees have benefited from the 2022 All-Star’s reliable defense and strong offensive output. Despite spending more than 200 innings at the hot corner with the Bronx Bombers, he had never played third base in the Major League Baseball. Throughout his five big league seasons, Chisholm has mostly played center field and second base. This season, Chisholm has already surpassed his career high in a number of offensive categories. His personal bests are 32 stolen bases, 65 runs batted in, 22 home runs, and 127 hits. The 26-year-old has appeared in 125 games this season, which is also a record for him in a single season.
Chisholm’s Yankees contract runs until the 2026 campaign. The Texas Rangers will be the opponent for Chisholm and the Yankees on Tuesday night. Contributing to Inside The Pinstripes, Casey Fahrer is a recent graduate of Syracuse University.
