Ricky Pearsall, a 2024 first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, was shot on Saturday during an attempted robbery, the team said in a statement.

According to Fox40’s Sean Cunningham, Pearsall was allegedly implicated in the robbery attempt over a Rolex watch while en route to a fan signing in the Union Square neighborhood of downtown San Francisco. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport posted a statement that was made public by the San Francisco Police Department.

Officers from the San Francisco Police Department responded to a complaint of gunfire in the vicinity of Geary Street and Grant Avenue at roughly 3:37 p.m. on August 31, 2024. When the officers arrived, they saw two injured male victims. Officers provided assistance, and paramedics took both patients to a nearby hospital for more testing.

Officers discovered during the preliminary inquiry that one of the subjects tried to rob Ricky Pearsall, a player for the San Francisco 49ers. A physical confrontation broke out during the attempted robbery, resulting in injuries to both the victim and the suspect. Charges against the suspect are still pending while they are in custody.
