Breaking news: Eagles Sign in Third Overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers in a Blockbuster Deal.
Greater depth for Philadelphia’s special teams and defense.
JT Woods, a defensive back selected third overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers, has officially joined the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.
In his 13 games played thus far, Woods, 24, has only made one start. Only 91 defensive and 89 special teams snaps in his career have been recorded by him. Woods’ stature is 6’2″ and he weighs 193 pounds.
Under Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff, Woods switched from playing safety his first two seasons to seeing more looks at outside cornerback this summer. James Bradberry in reverse.
Woods was cut to create room for running back Hassan Haskins, who was claimed off waivers, after he was added to the Chargers’ initial 53-man roster.
Woods is designated by the Eagles as a “DB,” so it’s unclear which position he’ll play most of the time. Theoretically, he is a candidate to assist on special teams and adds depth in the secondary. Woods has some punt coverage experience as a gunner.
The Eagles still have two spots available on their practice squad after acquiring Woods.
