According to a report from Seth Emerson of The Athletic, Kirby Smart, the head football coach at the University of Georgia, has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will make him the highest-paid head coach in college football.
With an extended contract that expires in December 2033, Smart will receive an annual salary of $13 million, an increase of $1.75 million from his previous agreement, plus bonuses of up to $1.55 million.
Over his eight years as Georgia’s football program’s head coach, the Bulldogs have established themselves as the SEC’s benchmark. Since taking charge in 2016, Smart has guided the team to three national championship games, winning two of them. Overall, the program is 94–16. With the Bulldogs, Smart has a 9-2 record in bowl games overall.

Furthermore, Georgia disclosed an extension of Josh Brooks’ contract, the athletic director, which runs concurrently with Smart’s through 2030. The $1.275 million annual compensation that Brooks will now receive will rise by $100,000 annually. During the term of the contract, he will also be qualified to receive bonuses of up to $200,000 annually.
