Aaron Judge's greatness is more than just a home run record | CNN

Tuesday night’s game between the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals saw both offensive and defensive lapses from Aaron Judge. Despite having eight hits against Washington, the Yankees did not go 0-for-8 when there were runners in scoring position. The Yankees performed no better when it came to fielding, making a total of four mistakes. All in all, the Yankees’ evening was excruciating as they suffered a 4-2 defeat in the interleague clash at Nationals Park.

After the game, Judge told reporters in the locker room, “I think we had three or four errors on the night” (h/t YES Network). “Anytime something like that happens, it’s tough to win a ball game.”

When Judge stepped up to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded and no outs, he had another opportunity to save the Yankees. But DJ LeMahieu grounded into double play, allowing New York to score their first run of the game. He went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the game’s conclusion. With seventy-nine errors so far this season, New York is sixth in the major leagues. Judge isn’t the Yankees’ only source of hope. In addition, self-inflicted wounds will not heal them.
