His career got off to a poor start.
Zach Wilson’s career didn’t get off to a great start.
Wilson has failed to live up to the expectations of being selected second overall, even though he was placed in an unfair and difficult situation. With a 12-21 record, he completed 566 of 993 ball attempts for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.
During his first campaign, Wilson participated in 13 games, finishing with a 3-10 record after completing 213 of 383 pass attempts for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. A sprained PCL caused him to miss four games.
With a meniscus tear and a bone bruise, Wilson missed the first three games of his sophomore campaign. After his comeback in Week 4, he started the following seven games before being benched in Weeks 11–13. After making a comeback in Week 14, he continued to play until Week 15, when he was benched and would miss the remainder of the season. With a 5-4 record, he completed 133 of 242 ball attempts for 1,688 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
In Week 1 of his third season, Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles, and Wilson was thrown into the fire. Weeks 2 through 11 saw Wilson’s debut. In Week 11, he was benched and did not play in the following two games. He was back in Week 14, but in Week 15, he sustained a concussion that ended his season. With a 4–7 record, he completed 221 of 368 pass attempts for 2,271 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.
Zach Wilson will fight for a spot on the Denver Broncos roster.
Zach Wilson is not anticipated to contend for the starting role because the Broncos prefer Jarrett Stidham and selected Bo Nix in the first round; instead, he will probably face competition from Ben DiNucci for the QB3 position.
