Gosder Cherilus, a former NFL offensive tackle who was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2008 draft, was jailed for disorderly behavior. He is accused of peeing on a fellow traveler while on a Boston to Dublin trip.
He allegedly approached an elderly woman, undressed, and let out “his entire bladder for approximately 20 seconds,” according to investigators.
The reported event took place approximately one hour into the flight. Cherilus was taken into custody upon the plane’s return to Boston.
Cherilus seemed inebriated when he got to the airport, according to the police report.
Cherilus issued an apology on social media earlier in the evening.
The flight did not take off until after 12:30 [a.m.] due to an unanticipated four-hour delay, according to Cherilus. “I took a sleeping pill that I don’t usually use in preparation for the unexpected overnight flight, and I would want to apologize to the passengers and flight crew for behavior that is not indicative of my character.”
He entered a not guilty plea to charges of disorderly behavior, resisting arrest, and interfering with the operation of an aircraft. His court date is October 11.
Cherilus played in the NFL for nine seasons, spending two with the Colts, two with the Buccaneers, and five with the Lions.
