Breaking: Chiefs close in to sign Former 1x Pro Bowl Wide Receiver in a blockbuster deal.

If the Chiefs prevail in Super Bowl LIX this season, they could create NFL history. They would be the first team in history to win the Super Bowl three times in a row if they were to win it again this year. But first, they have to get beyond the obstacles that every NFL team encounters in the regular season.

Kansas City Chiefs, JuJu Smith-Schuster

Kansas City, like every other NFL team, has some reservations about their present roster. In particular, there is a dearth of excellent depth at the wide receiver position. Of course, the Chiefs have shown that they can win titles without the services of a premier wide receiver. Without one, they had won the previous two Super Bowls.

Nevertheless, strengthening the roster is the aim of every offseason, and Kansas City might not have gone far enough in bolstering the wide receiver position.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, a wide receiver with the New England Patriots who caught just 29 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown in his rookie year, was reportedly cut by the team earlier today.

Naturally, in Smith-Schuser’s lone season with the Chiefs in 2022, Kansas City won the Super Bowl. He caught 78 passes for 933 yards and three scores that season.

Smith-Schuster would require very little time to reacquaint himself with the scheme because he is already familiar with the Chiefs’ offensive plan. He also had a successful season in his final year with Kansas City, demonstrating his ability to be a significant asset to the offense.

Kansas City would probably be able to sign him on the minimum because the Patriots will still pay him the $7 million they owe him for the 2024 campaign.
