ESPN: Cowboys vice president gives contract update on Cowboys’ top three players.
The indifference of the Dallas Cowboys head management in re-signing quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb seems to be wearing thin on the team’s supporters.
CEO and executive vice president Stephen Jones made an effort to reassure his supporters that the team is making every effort to finalize new contracts for outstanding players like Micah Parsons.
“We intend to execute it [re-signing all three of them],” Jones stated on Thursday on “The Doomsday Podcast.” “All three players should be present. Those are the players that provide us the best chance to win a title.
Prescott has the greatest chance of not being kept out of the three. Jerry Jones, the team’s owner, has stated that he is happy for Prescott to play out the final season of his deal in 2024 rather than taking a chance on trying to re-sign him the following summer. Stephen’s remarks appear to corroborate his father’s position.
Stephen remarked, “We view Dak as our partner in this.” Our goal is to take home a championship. I can guarantee you that nobody is more motivated to win a championship than Dak Prescott. However, we don’t approach it as though we’re trying to buy him off so he won’t move elsewhere.
It appears that Lamb will close his agreement first out of the three. Despite Jerry’s comments on Thursday, the two parties are apparently in talks over the parameters of a new contract. The Cowboys probably want to sign him as soon as possible so that he may report to camp and avoid delaying matters into the regular season.
“We think highly of CeeDee, and we comprehend his perspective on this and the reason he isn’t present,” stated Stephen Jones. “However, we are still working extremely hard to close this deal. There is absolutely no consideration that CeeDee is not a Dallas Cowboy.”
