Breaking: Giants favorite player resume training camp activities after ankle surgery.

Since the start of training camp about two weeks ago, the New York Giants have been waiting for right tackle Evan Neal to practice. Coach Brian Daboll dislikes discussing Neal’s absence.

As the Giants conducted a light practice at their training facility in the Meadowlands sports complex on Sunday, Daboll was questioned regarding Neal’s condition.

Neal, the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, underwent ankle surgery in January and is currently recovering. The day players reported, he was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Neal has been working with the trainers on the side while the team has been practicing. It appeared that he made progress on Sunday when he ran. It is unlikely that he will participate in the Detroit Lions’ two-day workout program that begins on Monday.

Regarding Neal, who has had difficulty in his first two seasons, Daboll has been dependable in his responses. According to Daboll, Neal is not yet ready. Neal has not seen any setbacks, and the amount of time it takes each athlete to recover varies.

“I’m sure he’s exerting every effort possible,” Daboll remarked. You take pride in all of your guys, regardless of whether they are big draft picks or undrafted free agents. We will therefore release him when he is ready.”

Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, right guard Aaron Stinnie, center Greg Van Roten (just signed to replace injured John Michael Schmitz), left guard Jon Runyan Jr., and left tackle Andrew Thomas make up the Giants offensive line as of right now.

After signing as free agents, Eluemunor and Van Roten, who started for the Raiders the previous season, are once again collaborating with Carmen Bricillo, the former coach of Las Vegas who was brought in by New York to serve as the O-line coach this year. While Stinnie was signed after playing with Tampa Bay, Runyan joined the Giants as a free agent following his time as a player for Green Bay.

Recalling Neal to right tackle is “down the road,” according to Daboll. “Let´s get him healthy first, and when he comes back, we´ll deal with that.”

Neal transferred to right tackle at Alabama after playing left guard as a rookie. He is hence adaptable.

The season doesn’t start for another month. Neal might return and perform admirably. Schmitz’s injury on his shoulder must heal.

According to Thomas, the new group is putting in a lot of effort. It is to be hoped that they improve upon the line from the previous season, which allowed a franchise-high 85 sacks.
