Breaking: Former Eagles favorite CB signs a blockbuster deal with Giants.
The cornerback position on the New York Giants is becoming more deep. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the Giants claimed CB Mario Goodrich off the Philadelphia Eagles’ waiver list on Wednesday.
The Eagles stated on Tuesday that they had signed offensive lineman Nick Gates, a former player for the Giants and Washington Commanders, and Goodrich was released.
After landing on the waiver wire, he will move to New Jersey. Goodrich played four games with the Eagles in 2023, recording one start.
In 110 total snaps (70 defensive, 40 special teams), he totaled five tackles overall. In ten covering targets, he gave up ten receptions (100%) for 118 yards and one touchdown.
The 6-foot-186-pound cornerback Goodrich played college ball at Clemson. He was not selected in the 2022 NFL Draft and has since been on and off the Eagles practice squad.
A developing player like Goodrich will be welcomed by the Giants, who are in need of assistance at cornerback. At just 24 years old, he still has a lot of potential as a special teams player or developmental depth piece.
