Though the quarterback’s participation at training camp may be affected by the ongoing discussions, Tua Tagovailoa has not indicated that he will hold out for a new deal from the Miami Dolphins.

Tagovailoa was present for the opening of training camp on Tuesday, as was to be expected. When asked on Wednesday if Tagovailoa is expected to practice, Mike McDaniel provided a very candid reaction. The Dolphins coach described the circumstances as “fluid.”

It is divided into two parts. It’s crucial, in my opinion, to recognize that Tua is currently negotiating a contract. For him and the football team, that’s crucial,” McDaniel remarked. Having saying that, we have excellent communication. It moves quite freely. We’re going day by day with it. I anticipate that today will resemble OTAs, and then we’ll proceed.

During OTAs, Tagovailoa participated in 7-on-7 exercises but skipped 11-on-11 drills. If an agreement is not reached, McDaniel appeared to imply that the quarterback will follow the same strategy during training camp.

The fact that Tagovailoa desires a deal that is akin to some of the enormous extensions that quarterbacks have received this offseason has been made known to the public. Although the two parties appear to still be in talks, a source stated that the Dolphins are unwilling to pay him the $55 million that Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow now receive.

Tagovailoa’s participation at training camp is encouraging, but eventually his unresolved contract situation can become a hindrance.
