ESPN: I just need some time for myself, Raiders WR decline request for new contract proposal.
“Locked in with the Raiders,” according to the wide receiver
Trade rumors about Adams and Rodgers coming back together this fall have been circulating due to Davante Adams’ dissatisfaction with Jimmy Garoppolo’s play, the overall performance of the Las Vegas Raiders offense at the beginning of last season—highlighted on Netflix’s Receiver—and Aaron Rodgers’ recent remarks.
The wide receiver dispelled those claims, though, when he appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.
Adams declared, “I’m actively on the Raiders.” “How do I appear to others while I’m chatting to them about playing for a different team? And I still feel that way about it at the moment. I’m committed to the Raiders, and I have a great sense about this group of players—as far as I can tell, they feel the same way about me. I’m not done playing, so of course we would work out whatever issues arose if that ever changed and they stopped feeling the same way.
This comes after Adams’ agents stated in a statement that he isn’t looking for a trade, and after the All-Pro receiver mentioned on the Up & Adams Show a few weeks ago how much he loves working with Antonio Pierce. In addition, he has openly supported Aidan O’Connell on multiple occasions in recent interviews to promote the Netflix series.
It appears that, for the time being, we can put any trade discussions on hold and concentrate on training camp, which begins next week.
