Breaking: Alabama’s linebacker accept Tennessee football offer.
A Tennessee football recruit from Alabama’s Class of 2026 received an offer last month while making his first visit to the Vols.
After being intrigued by Tennessee football for a few weeks, Braylon Outlaw traveled to Knoxville for the first time last month to personally assess the Vols’ offerings. After his return, he was being pursued by prominent programs from another SEC team.
Pike Road (Ala.) High School’s Outlaw, a linebacker and athlete in the Class of 2026, visited Tennessee on June 19 and accepted a scholarship offer from the Vols. By making an offer to him, they joined Ole Miss, Arkansas, and South Carolina as the fourth SEC team to do so.
Senior Tennessee officials are impressed with rookie Boo Carter.
This year, he’s going to have an influence.
Josh Heupel’s tenure at Tennessee hasn’t seen many impact freshmen, but this season could be different. Boo Carter wasn’t the top player in Tennessee’s class of 2024, but the Vols’ revamped secondary may be able to harness his playmaking skills almost away.
In high school, the four-star athlete played two sports and was named Mr. Football as a senior. At this point, he could have landed on either side of the ball as well, but Tennessee’s defensive needs are more pressing. The Vols lost a lot of veteran depth as well as their entire starting secondary. Someone like Carter will be able to get some early playing time as a result.
Tennessee center Cooper Mays described himself as “a special player, really athletic, but I’m not sure how he’ll be used” during SEC Media Days. You mentioned being from Chattanooga. You must be familiar with this. You’ve observed him. incredibly athletic child. Superb child as well. Really likable and blends in perfectly. I’m not sure how we’ll use him, but you really need to figure out how to use someone like that.
According to 247Sports, Carter ultimately placed 149th overall in the 2024 class. At Bradley Central High School, close to Chattanooga, the 5-11, 195-pound player was explosive in every facet of the game. It is now up to the staff in Knoxville to decide where to play him.
“His movement is excellent, and he can create some plays with his frame. Tennessee linebacker Keenan Pili stated, “You can tell he cares and he loves football by the way he carries himself.” But above all, I believe, are the qualities he possesses. For him, the possibilities are endless as he pursues his job.
Carter has made a significant impact during the spring and summer even though he only joined this offseason.
Reporters were told by Omari Thomas that Boo had entered the team with the attitude of a young man who wanted to learn, excel, and actually play on the field this year. “You see that in a guy who’s putting in the extra work, looking up to older guys and is always hanging out with older guys just trying to learn the way fast so he’s able to be on the field and help us,” Thomas said. He is an excellent athlete. It’s nice to see a player like Boo doing that because he will make a lot of plays for us.
Where will he play in the end? The safety post and STAR position are very much up in the air, but Tennessee’s cornerback depth chart appears to be fairly fixed. Jakobe Thomas, a safety from MTSU, was signed by the Vols, and Andre Turrentine ought to contend for the other safety spot. Late in the previous season, Jourdan Thomas took up the role of STAR, and he is expected to return as the team’s starter this autumn. But after that? Carter could probably fill any one of those three roles.
How soon can he gain the employees’ trust? Here, that will be crucial. I’m curious to see how long it takes him to locate the field, but he should have plenty of time to start on special teams.
