ESPN news: Charlotte Hornets Star Man Close in to Join Rival in a Blockbuster deal.
The Denver Nuggets are interested in trading for Charlotte Hornets guard Vasilije Micic, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer.
Prior to the deadline of February 8, Micic was dealt by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Charlotte Hornets. His NBA role and performance were enhanced by this relocation.
Over 30 games, Micic averaged 3.3 points, 2.5 assists, and 12.0 minutes of floor time while playing for OKC.
However, after moving to Charlotte, his numbers skyrocketed. He averaged 27.2 minutes per game while playing 30 games (21 starts) for the Hornets, putting up 10.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
Micic inked a $23.5 million three-year deal with the Thunder in July of last year, which included a third-year team option.
Prior to entering the NBA, Micic enjoyed success in the EuroLeague, where he was named league MVP in 2021.
Micic would team up with fellow Serbian Nikola Jokic, who he will also play with at the Olympics in Paris this summer, if the deal to Denver came to pass.
