Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, isn’t letting his desire for a new deal stop him from participating in the team’s summer activities.

According to Rams head coach Sean McVay, Stafford will be present at next week’s required minicamp. That should come as no surprise considering Stafford’s volunteer activities.

McVay, though, stated that there is currently no update about Stafford and the Rams reaching a deal.

McVay responded, “Same as last time that we spoke,” when questioned about Stafford’s contract status.

When asked if there had been any progress in getting Stafford and the Rams to agree to a new contract, McVay said, “Nope.” All of this is being kept internal.

Withholding their services until and unless they receive a new contract is the best method for athletes to use their clout. Stafford is capable of doing it, but it doesn’t seem like he will.

During offseason practices, youngster Blake Corum of the Rams makes an immediate impact.

He was the offensive player of the game in Michigan’s national championship game win over Washington, and he was a two-time All-American.

Blake Corum, a running back, was selected by the Rams in the third round of the NFL draft because of his heritage.

However, Corum entered the Rams’ offseason program with a mindset more akin to a novice than an experienced player.

“I’m going to grow from the good I do and whatever bad I do. You just have to go in with a humble heart and the mindset of, ‘I don’t know anything,'” Corum remarked on Tuesday following practice. Since I’m constantly growing, it was simple for me to enter and essentially start anew.

The 5-foot-8, 210-pound Corum was chosen by the Rams as a backup to third-year player Kyren Williams, who was selected to the Pro Bowl the previous year after rushing for 1,144 yards and 15 touchdowns for a club that went 10-7 and qualified for the playoffs.

Williams’ foot issue kept him out of the optional offseason practices, so Corum is making the most of more reps while he gets to know the offense.

Coach Sean McVay commented, “I’ve seen a very mature rookie. I also love his mental makeup, how he handles himself as a person, and how locked in and focused he is.”

Along with Williams, Ronnie Rivers, Zach Evans, a second-year pro, and recently signed Boston Scott, Corum plays a group of positions. According to running backs coach Ron Gould, each has shown skill and development both on the field and in the meeting room throughout the offseason program.

Gould sat down with Corum when he got to Thousand Oaks and told him not to be too hard on himself if he made mistakes. According to Gould, Corum’s worst possible action would be to exert pressure on himself.

Gould stated, “He hasn’t done that up to this point.” “He’s handled everything calmly. He’s a sponge, and I see him develop daily.

During his four seasons at Michigan, Corum ran for 3,737 yards and 58 touchdowns with a hard running style.

The Rams selected Corum with the 83rd pick in the draft after trading up to select Seminoles defensive tackle Braden Fiske in the second round and selecting Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse in the first.

“I entered the draft with the intention of participating on Day 2,” Corum stated. I simply wanted to go to the appropriate situation; I had no idea if it would be my second or third round.

“You know what? When I got the call from the Rams, I thought to myself. This is the ideal circumstance.

Corum claimed that the other running backs, Gould, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, and McVay had made his adjustment to the professional ranks easier.

Corum remarked, “I felt like I had a great family at Michigan.” “I didn’t know what to expect coming to the NFL where it is now a business, but we built a great culture there.” However, it feels like a family.

Corum said that he would short leave Southern California to run football camps in Michigan and his native state of Virginia following the Rams’ conclusion of training next week. He’ll be back soon to get ready for training camp, which starts in late July.
