Incredibile: Dopo aver perso all’inizio dei French Open, Novak Djokovic ha fatto una dichiarazione sconvolgente.
Due to his poor form, former ATP player Sam Querrey wouldn’t be shocked if Novak Djokovic lost early at the 2024 Roland Garros.
In their most recent match, Djokovic defeated Tallon Griekspoor in two sets, which took place in Geneva. The Serbian gave a strong performance, stronger than the one in Rome and undoubtedly his best in a long time.
The bottle incident, which left Djokovic with some ramifications in the days that followed, probably made the match in Rome an exception. Based on his matches at the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva, he appears to be back to full health and no problems.
Nevertheless, the season hasn’t been great overall. Due to his status as one of the greatest players in history, the 37-year-old is expected to perform well in Paris; nevertheless, his performance this year hasn’t been high enough for such an event to occur.
That’s the reason why it wouldn’t surprise former player Sam Querrey if he lost the tournament early.
“I’m not aware of Djokovic’s situation. I was watching the Italian Open match where he was playing Tabilo. It appeared that he made no effort. 6-2, 6-3 were his losses. From the third or fourth game on, his mental state was not in the match.”
“At this point he’s only concerned about the Grand Slams so I trust him to get it together mentally and be engaged and ready to go at the French Open.”
Querrey raised a valid argument on motivation, and it’s evident that he is most driven during the largest occasions. Of course, ATP Masters hold a special place in his heart, but Grand Slams are what really matter. It’s one thing to be inspired, but will he be able to summon the required amount? That is the query.
“In the previous 15 or 16 years, he has never entered the French Open with such appalling performances. Therefore, I wouldn’t be shocked if he falls short against a talent like Tabilo right away.”

Wawrinka advanced to his second Major final at the 2015 French Open after winning the Grand Slam at the Australian Open in 2014.
Djokovic was determined to capture his first title at Roland Garros when he went into the French Open final, having just defeated Rafael Nadal in the tournament. It was widely believed that Djokovic would not let this chance pass him by because he had to wait so long to overcome Nadal at the French Open.
And while Djokovic did play well, Wawrinka turned in one of his best performances to lead the Swiss to victory in a 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-4 final. Wawrinka was nearly faultless throughout the match and produced winners from all over the court.
Recalling defeating Djokovic in the 2015 French Open final, Wawrinka
Wawrinka admitted in an interview with Express-Sport that he was “really nervous” when he stepped onto the court, but that he soon took a time to gather himself and his focus returned.
“Obviously, he was the overwhelming favorite going into the match. He had won 30 straight matches, he was ranked No. 1, and he had defeated Rafa,” Wawrinka said to Express-Sport.
However, I also realized that, on a fair playing field, I was prepared to engage in combat with him. I felt like I was ready for the final, both physically and mentally. I was therefore totally concentrated on the match, the game, and my strategy to try to push him on every shot. In the end, I think I played at the best level I have ever played on a clay court in the French Open final, so I’m satisfied with that. It was also one of my finest matches ever.
Wawrinka won his third Grand Slam championship in 2016 by defeating Djokovic in the US Open final, having previously defeated the Serb in the French Open final in 2015.
