Arrested again, Ohio state star player arrested by the U.S marshal service’s apprehension team for robbery.
Corey Smith Jr., a former wide receiver for Ohio State, was taken into custody for breaking his parole.
The U.S. Marshal Service’s Apprehension Team detained Smith in Columbus on Wednesday morning. Smith was a pass-catcher for the Buckeyes from 2013 to 2016.
According to a marshals service representative, Smith is wanted in West Virginia for violating his federal parole and for failing to show up for a 2018 aggravated robbery accusation.
The spokesperson stated that although Smith was detained at a house on Republic Avenue, he promptly closed the door on the officers after answering it. He was reportedly apprehended in the attic after running up to it.
Smith’s involvement in a narcotics ring with connections to West Virginia and Ohio resulted in a 57-month jail term in March of 2021. Smith entered a guilty plea to one count of aiding and abetting the possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute fifty grams or more.
During the team’s quest for the 2014 National Championship, Smith caught 20 receptions for 255 yards as a member of the Buckeyes. With 31 receptions for 351 yards to cap off his four-year Ohio State career, the JUCO transfer out of Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan concluded his career.

Does Ohio State football require defensive linemen to be rotated?
The football team at Ohio State used to switch around defensive lineman a lot. In 2023, they rarely did. Do they have to revert to that tactic?
The Ohio State football team has a reputation for switching up its defensive lineman. It was a cornerstone of Larry Johnson’s thinking, nearly to the point of obsessiveness. He would give a lot of individuals a run in order to ensure that his players would stay fresh throughout the game.
That was somewhat altered last year. For whatever reason, the Buckeyes didn’t rotate players as often. One may argue that it was a good thing that he kept the best players out there for longer periods of time. At the end, Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau both played more snaps than they did in 2022.
Though they were able to produce a number of sacks, Ohio State was unable to produce much depth. Once more, the Buckeyes will need to depend on those two players. A large part of it stems from Jim Knowles’ system, which aims to keep his top players on the field for extended periods of time during the game.
That makes sense when you look at the Ohio State football team’s defensive statistics from the previous season. They ranked among the finest defenses in the nation. The defensive line applying pressure to the quarterback was a major factor in the nation’s top-ranked pass defense.
This season, I believe the Buckeyes will rotate in players a little more. They need to give some guys experience since after this season they don’t have a lot of depth on the defensive line. If these older guys go next season, they’re going to be in serious difficulty.
In the end, Buckeye supporters must respect Knowles’ decisions because the team’s statistics have significantly improved since he took over as defensive coordinator. They ought to employ any rotation he chooses. The numbers tell it like it is.
