Breaking news: The Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson’s “favorite target,” surfaced as unexpected trade bait.
Mark Andrews, the outstanding tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, will be remembered as one of the best to ever wear the team’s colors, regardless of what transpired during the 2024 NFL playoffs. He is, after all, the team’s all-time leader in both single-season catches and receiving yards. However, is it possible that the Ravens will trade him?
Ralph Vacchiano, an NFL reporter for Fox Sports, suggested that the Ravens would move Andrews to another team during the current NFL offseason.
He is undoubtedly a target for quarterback Lamar Jackson when fit and performing well, but he has lost some of his former glory as a tight end four years ago. Although he is a solid red-zone target and trustworthy, he is also approaching his 30th birthday and will be a free agent the next year. Competing teams can still benefit from him. However, the Ravens could see more potential in 25-year-old tight end Isaiah Likely, thus he might be expendable. However, since Likely will also be a free agency in March, they would need to commit to him.
When the 2025 NFL season begins, will Andrews still be a member of the Baltimore Ravens?
One reason for a possible Andrews trade, as noted by Vacchiano, is that both he and Isaiah Likely are anticipated to be free agents at the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season. Although Andrews may still be a productive player and is the more reliable and consistent asset downfield, he will also turn 30 in September, thus Baltimore may have to decide to just sign a contract with one of the two players.
Despite earning $16.9 million in salary for the upcoming season, Andrews, a three-time Pro Bowler, may not have a better trade value now that he is healthy and still under contract.
Andrews caught 55 passes for 673 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns the previous season.
