ESPN: Philadelphia Eagles close in to sign fan favorite star in a blockbuster deal.
Regarding a possible contract extension, the Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert seem to be at a standstill. At this point, it seems like his time with the squad is almost over. Tim McManus of ESPN stated Friday morning that Goedert’s future is still uncertain, that the organization is “considering” moving on, and that the veteran is the “subject” of trade negotiations. “Meanwhile, league sources confirmed tight end Dallas Goedert has been the subject of trade talks,” McManus stated. “The combination of his age (30), injury history and average salary of $14 million per season has the Eagles considering moving on from their leading receiver from this past postseason.”
According to another NFL source, the Eagles are “actively” seeking a deal. At the conclusion of the 2025 season, Goedert’s contract will expire. He has been handed a challenging hand because he has also been prone to injuries in recent seasons. The 30-year-old former South Dakota State standout has few more outstanding years remaining at the position, and the Eagles will have significant cap issues in the years to come. Veteran players like Darius Slay and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson have already left Philadelphia. One explanation for this is the upcoming contract extensions for defensive lineman Jalen Carter and other roster studs.
It may be Goedert next. Furthermore, McManus said that departure may occur sooner than anybody had thought. Right now, though, everyone’s eyes will be on the NFL Draft to see how long this continues.
