For a large portion of the summer, the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly attempted to trade tight end Dallas Goedert. However, Goedert is still with the organization with around two weeks till the NFL Draft.
What does that signify for his future, then? That implies that Goedert will still only return on a pay cut, according to ESPN’s Tim McManus. Goedert is one name that feels a little throwaway as the Eagles face difficult decisions due to the margins, and he is guaranteed $14 million in 2025.
They’re facing some difficult decisions this offseason with high-paid contributors who haven’t been named as primary options going forward because there isn’t much money to go around. In that sense, Goedert’s injury history seems to be against him; over three games have been missed in each of the previous three seasons. It’s difficult to see Goedert coming back to Philadelphia in 2025, unless he accepts a wage reduction, McManus wrote.
Goedert’s knee ailment kept him out of action last season. The Super Bowl champion’s health is still an issue, since he only had 42 receptions for 496 yards the previous season.
Goedert hasn’t participated in a complete season in his career and only played 10 games overall in 2024. A crucial component of the calculation is the fact that Goedert has missed 15 potential games due to injury during the previous three seasons.
The Eagles will retain Goedert if he agrees to a wage reduction because he is still a gifted tight end who can contribute to any offensive scheme. Howie Roseman and Goedert’s delegates will have to work things out, though.
