Report: The Philadelphia Eagles lost out on a significant trade to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Philadelphia Eagles, who possessed a strong offensive line and a defensive line with waves of pass rushers, won the Super Bowl in February in large part because of depth in the trenches.
The Eagles have depth problems elsewhere this summer, despite having a wealth of skill in the trenches. Philadelphia sent quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for QB2 Kenny Pickett.
Tanner McKee is another quarterback on the Eagles’ roster in addition to Jalen Hurts. According to the NFL, McKee and Thompson-Robinson are not the best choices for an Eagles team that consistently puts Hurts at danger of injury when they execute the “tush push.”
The Dallas Cowboys apparently outbid the Eagles for a quarterback.
A quarterback was acquired by the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys were able to acquire quarterback Joe Milton of the New England Patriots for a fifth-round selection, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
“Sources: The #Patriots are giving the Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton in return for a late-round draft pick,” Rapoport wrote on X. In Week 18 of last year, when fresh England won, Milton, a fresh backup for Dak Prescott, went 22 of 29 for 241 yards and a touchdown. There is possibility. A new house now.
The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin reported that the Eatles were considering making a trade for Milton.
The deal was not completed by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Patriots rejected higher offers for Milton because the former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback asked to be traded to a team where he had a greater chance of starting, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports. Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Cowboys, is still recuperating from the injury that ended his 2024 season.
“From what I understand, the Raiders, Eagles, Giants, Steelers, and Cowboys were among the teams that expressed interest in Joe Milton since he became available at the beginning of the offseason,” Schultz wrote on X. According to a source, the Patriots had a higher offer for Milton but, out of respect for him, decided to send him where he desired.
The Eagles may now need to get ready to play Milton in the future.
