“I am grateful to the Atlanta Falcons for their belief in me and for selecting a D-II recruit who was not widely known. I’m grateful that the Detroit Lions took me off waivers, offered me a second contract, and let me prove myself as a starting quarterback in the NFL.”

The Falcons selected Cominsky in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In his ten games as a rookie, he recorded 11 tackles, two quarterback hits, and one half-sack. In 2020, he made his first NFL start and played in 13 games, amassing 28 tackles, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and one sack.

After that, Cominsky, 29, didn’t play another competitive snap. The Lions fell to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round because he did not heal in time to play after tearing his MCL during training camp in July 2024.

He was an unrestricted free agent at the time of his retirement. Cominsky finished his career with 57 games played, 20 starts, 107 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss.
