Laremy Tunsil: from gas mask gaffe to NFL's highest-paid lineman | Marca

Veteran offensive lineman Trent Brown is heading south after spending a season with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Houston Texans are offering Brown a one-year contract worth up to $3 million, according to a Friday X post from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The veteran was born in Texas, so this is kind of a homecoming for him. In an effort to strengthen their tackle positions, the Texans traded away Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil this summer. When healthy, Brown can start, but that has been a big problem for him. Only two of the previous five seasons have seen him play more than ten games.

Laremy Tunsil

There was a time when he was considered one of the top tackles in the NFL after the Las Vegas Raiders gave him a four-year, $66 million contract in 2019. That first season in Las Vegas was his best as he was named to the Pro Bowl despite playing in just 11 games. The Raiders quickly soured on him and his lack of availability and traded him back to the New England Patriots. The injury issues continued and he only played in three games last season with the Bengals.

Laremy Tunsil earned third Pro Bowl honors, sets ambitions on All-Pro status: 'They see I'm LT1, the best left tackle in the league.'

Houston desperately needs strong offensive line play and Brown is far from a sure thing. The Texans may need to strongly consider drafting another offensive tackle early but if Brown stays healthy, he can be an impact player for them.
