ESPN: Lions first-round bust agrees to one-year deal with Vikings.

Back in the North: Former #Lions first-round pick Jeff Okudah is signing  with the #Vikings.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Okudah has agreed to a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, making them his fourth team in his soon-to-be six-year NFL career.

Okudah is the third defensive back Minnesota has signed since the 2025 free agency period began, joining Isaiah Rodgers and Tavierre Thomas. Theo Jackson and Byron Murphy Jr., two backups, were also kept by the Vikings.

Okudah played in just six games with the Houston Texans last season, missing nine because of a hip ailment. He had one pass defended and nine tackles at the end of the season.

Michigan football fans are familiar with the 26-year-old cornerback, who was chosen by the Detroit Lions with the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Okudah has struggled with a number of ailments since joining the NFL, which have prevented him from playing.

He missed the start of the season due to a hamstring injury he sustained during training camp in his first year. After that, he only played in nine games due to a core muscle issue.

Okudah had a season-ending torn Achilles tendon injury in the opening game of the next season against the San Francisco 49ers.

In 2022, his third and last season with Detroit, he had 73 tackles, one forced fumble, and his career’s first and only interception, making it his greatest season in the NFL.

The Lions traded Okudah to the Atlanta Falcons for a fifth-round pick before to the 2023 NFL Draft.

Given that he was the top-ranked cornerback in his class, which also featured Chicago Bears two-time Pro Bowl defensive Jaylon Johnson, Okudah is sometimes considered one of the worst draft blunders in Lions history due to his lack of availability and effectiveness.
