Breaking news: Aaron Boone sends a strong message to the Yankees.
Aaron Boone sees big things for the Yankees this season.
With a 94-68 record the previous season, the New York Yankees were the greatest club in the American League. After that, they advanced further in the playoffs, but the Los Angeles Dodgers beat them in five games to win the World Series. Manager Aaron Boone is searching for a competitive squad to contend for a title as the 2025 season approaches.
According to The MLB Network, the Yankees manager said during a practice interview that he wants his squad to be a “hungry team.” After losing the World Series, he allegedly wants New York to launch an offensive against the new campaign.
“I want our squad to be hungry. As the season progresses, I want that to be one of our characteristics.
This summer, New York worked hard to keep their roster competitive enough to win a title. However, when Juan Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, they suffered a significant blow to their lineup. Although it would have been ideal to match Soto with Aaron Judge in the long run, the front staff did make a number of noteworthy offseason acquisitions after losing out on Soto.
The Yankees were successful in acquiring closer Devin Williams and outfielder Cody Bellinger. Pitcher Max Fried and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt were both added to the Yankees’ active roster. In order to increase the roster’s depth, the front office also acquired a number of players for the lineup and bullpen through trade and free agency.
With around $271 million invested in the team as of the 2025 season, the Yankees have the fourth-highest payroll in the league. The only teams ahead of them are the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Aaron Boone will be the manager of the Yankees for the ninth season. Under his direction, the team’s overall record is 603-429. He guided the squad to its first World Series trip since 2009 last season.
