Breaking news: The Yankees linked to a $480 million Toronto Blue Jays’ superstar.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be eligible for free agency after the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2025 season. The superstar is expected to sign a contract for more than $480 million when he arrives, according to Forbes writer Daniel Epstein. Guerrero could be able to negotiate a transaction for over half a billion dollars once Juan Soto reset the market. However, who could afford to pay a first baseman that much?
The New York Yankees, after the Boston Red Sox and the Blue Jays, are now the third team in the Guerrero sweepstakes, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic. Bowden remarked, “The Yankees would be a strong fit for Guerrero,” “After this season, Paul Goldschmidt will be a free agent, leaving the Bronx’s first base vacant for the long haul. Guerrero then modified his earlier statements that he would never play for the Yankees, saying he would give it some thought.
“I could envision the Yankees entering a Guerrero sweepstakes and winning this time around after the Mets beat them out for Soto in the previous offseason. In the midst of their lineup, he would provide Aaron Judge with much-needed backup. If Guerrero is open to making a trade with the Yankees, they may be the ideal suitor. New York will have the funds to pay Guerrero half a billion dollars next winter if it feels like it, as it supposedly had the funds to offer Soto a deal for more than $700 million.
With the Bronx Bombers still in the wake of losing out on Soto, Guerrero would be the ideal compensatory acquisition. He would place another superstar beside Aaron Judge in the Bronx for the next few years. It’s hard to think that pair wouldn’t win at least one World Series victory.
