Nolan Arenado reports to Cardinals camp 'ready to go play ball' | Reuters

According to reports, the New York Yankees have been pursuing third baseman Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals. Although it is uncertain if Arenado would waive his no-trade clause for a deal to New York at this time, previous reports suggested he would not be willing to do so. Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, who recently predicted the Yankees would acquire Arenado before the 2025 MLB trade deadline, doesn’t think the Yankees will give up on Arenado.

Miller’s post, “Arenado Ends Season With: New York Yankees,” “They were reportedly one of the teams Arenado was willing to waive his no-trade clause for, and there’s a decent chance they’ll be desperate enough to take on the rest of his contract after a few months of trying to platoon Oswaldo Cabrera, DJ LeMahieu, and Oswald Peraza at the hot corner.” Arenado would be ideal to complete the Yankees’ roster makeover. As previously mentioned, the question is whether or if Arenado would waive his no-trade clause.

But Arenado might alter his mind if the Cardinals struggle as much as many pundits anticipate them to. There’s a chance they end the season around the same level as the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates, if not worse. Pair this with the Cardinals’ clear desire to get rid of Arenado, and the $260 million star might waive his no-trade clause for a move to the Yankees.

Arenado would move to the Bronx to join former colleague Paul Goldschmidt. As New York attempts to make a comeback to the World Series, he would be a perfect fit in the Yankees’ infield.
