Breaking news: Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell receives another oustanding award at…
The players gave head coach Dan Campbell another A-plus, and the Detroit Lions shot into the top 10 of the NFL Players Association’s annual poll.
In an effort to gather information “about their current club, to not only help them make important career decisions, but also help raise standards across the league,” 1,695 players responded to the survey, according to the NFLPA.
The Lions finished ninth out of 32 clubs this season after finishing 13th the previous season.
Not too bad overall, although the team’s worst ratings were in the food/dining area (B-minus, 19th) and locker room (C-plus, 18th). They got at least a B-plus in the training room, team travel, and ownership, and an A-minus or better with the head coach and strength coaches.
“For the second consecutive year, head coach Dan Campbell received an A+, the team’s highest-graded area,” according to the NFLPA. The players’ overwhelming responses to the question of what the team excels at were leadership and culture, which is indicative of the excellent job that head coach Campbell conducts.
“The food program has greatly improved in recent years, but players identified two areas for improvement: updating outdated lockers and further improving it.”
100% of Lions players rated Campbell as effective and “receptive to locker room feedback,” making him one of only six head coaches to achieve a flawless grade.
Regarding ownership, the players expressed their belief that Sheila Ford Hamp is “extremely committed to building a competitive team” and that she contributes to the great team culture.
The Minnesota Vikings are in second place for two years in a row after winning the first NFLPA survey in 2023, while the Miami Dolphins are voted top overall for the second consecutive year.
To see the other side of these rankings, the Arizona Cardinals received an F-minus for the locker room and a F for the weight room, placing them in 32nd place on the NFLPA survey.
