Soto was landing the largest free-agent deal in the history of the game, and Judge was becoming a first-time father. Soto will spend 15 years with the Mets after signing a $765 million contract. Judge reached out after he noticed that Soto had began his Mets career with a home run in his first at-bat during spring training. “I asked him how camp was going, how he was getting along with the new guys, about the whole situation over there,” Judge stated. “Juan is an amazing man. “You’re the best at fitting in,” I informed him. When you first arrived here, you were one of us. Everything will be all right with you.”

The two New York celebrities are getting along just fine. Off the field, they are still buddies. But on the field, the Mets will compete for bragging rights in New York when Soto makes his first appearance back in the Bronx on May 16.
