Juan Soto Makes Stunning Admission About Relationship With Ex-Yankees Teammates

During his first spring training encounter with the Mets media, Juan Soto strangely sounded like someone experiencing the spotlight for the first time in New York.

The New York Mets’ spring training camp at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie has officially begun. The club’s much awaited debut of superstar slugger Juan Soto on the diamond and their highly sought-after offseason signing follows.

Soto allegedly attracted attention when he arrived on the scene, and rightfully so given that he signed the biggest deal in professional sports history when he joined the Mets. After one extremely successful season, he decided to depart the New York Yankees for their crosstown foe, a choice that has been widely documented. Naturally, though, the subject was brought up again when the outstanding outfielder met with the media representatives of the National League New York team in Florida.

Juan Soto's $765 Million Contract With The Mets Has A Ton Of Extras

When asked what he learned about the New York spotlight from his time with the Yankees, Soto offered some insightful and frank answers. His word choice, however, was intriguing to say the least.

A different vibe? Juan Soto would want to give the Yankees one chance.
Reporters said, “[New York] is a different vibe,” Soto said. “You have so many eyes on you. … Broadway and everything, everybody wants to come in and beat the New York teams.”

Though unintentional, Soto’s remarks imply that he accomplished more than only play for the Yankees for a year in New York City. Even though New York is different from other locations, he has spent time in important American sports markets outside of Gotham. Before being dealt to the San Diego Padres, the 26-year-old played for the Washington Nationals for more than four seasons.

Soto also talked about his confidence in the Mets’ long-term potential and their capacity to compete for a World Series. He could have unintentionally shot the Yankees in the process:

According to Soto, “you need a whole team to go all the way,” “If you look at the teams who win the World Series, you’ll see that they’re young and experienced. It takes more than one person, in my opinion, and based on the Mets’ squad, I believe they have a good chance of staying in the game for a while.”

Whether on purpose or not, Soto most likely regrets roasting the Yankees. Because it may be taken out of context and used against him if things don’t work out for him and the Mets.
