ESPN: Red Sox Prospect sign a blockburster deal with the White Sox with plans to help them Enter MLB.
When the Boston Red Sox executed the pivotal deal to acquire frontline pitcher Garrett Crochet, Chase Meidroth joined the Chicago White Sox along with three other prospects.
Meidroth left a farm system that had depth in the middle of the infield and gained enough Triple-A experience to be on the verge of making his Major League debut. He could be the first of the four former Red Sox prospects to join the White Sox.
Meidroth told Chuck Garfien of CHSN, “I’m excited for this opportunity. This city has been amazing. I can’t wait to get started. … It wasn’t much of a surprise. You kind of just be where your feet are and show up every day. Work hard in whatever jersey that is. That’s what I’m going to do.” The Red Sox discovered during Meidroth’s development up to Triple-A Worcester that he is a versatile defender who can play a number of positions around the infield. He posted an on-base percentage of over.400 in each of his three seasons in the system, and walked 105 times in 2024.
The former Red Sox product does two things very well to anchor a position for Chicago, but he won’t be the most eye-catching name as the White Sox reconstruction progresses.
